1. Introduction

DomainScope ("Service", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the service.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

When you use DomainScope, we may collect the following types of information:

  • URLs and Domains Submitted: We collect the URLs, domain names, or IP addresses you submit for analysis. This data is used to provide the Service and improve our analytical capabilities.
  • Usage Data: We may collect information automatically when you use the Service, such as your IP address (from which the scan is initiated - currently mocked), browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the Service. This information is used for system administration, to analyze trends, and to improve the Service. (Note: For this prototype, most of this data collection is simulated or not actively stored).
  • Cookies: We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service. (Note: Cookie usage is minimal in the current prototype).

3. How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Service to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
  • Understand and analyze how you use our Service.
  • Develop new products, services, features, and functionality (based on aggregated, anonymized data).
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Service.
  • For security purposes, such as detecting and preventing fraud or malicious activity.

Note: As a prototype, DomainScope primarily uses mocked data for its analyses. Any URLs or domains you submit are processed to generate these mocked reports and are not typically stored long-term in a personally identifiable way for this demonstration version.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personally identifiable information with third parties without your consent, except as described in this Privacy Policy or when legally required.

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:

  • By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. (Note: This is not applicable in the current prototype state which does not integrate external third-party processing for user data).
  • Aggregated or Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you with third parties for research, analysis, or other purposes.

5. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
